Debra Boughton is in her fifth year as an administrator with the Texas State University athletic department including the past two as an assistant athletics director.

Boughton is responsible for a broad range of administrative services in the areas of budgets, business and personnel management. She is the department liaison to the University comptroller, accounting, budget and personnel departments.

During her tenure at Texas State, the Austin native has successfully transitioned the department to NACDA's (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics) insurance program for improved student-athlete healthcare. Additionally, she provided successful oversight of the department's first charter bus contract in an effort to streamline and improve team transportation.

Boughton came to Texas State from Ohio University where she completed a master's in sports administration while working in the school's athletic department. She also worked for two years on the Experienced Audit Staff of Arthur Anderson's Assurance and Business Advisory Division.

Boughton earned a bachelor's in accounting in 1997 from Trinity University in San Antonio, while lettering four years on the women's soccer team. She was a four-time, all-conference selection and received Player of the Year honors as a senior. She served as a Graduate Research Assistant with the Trinity University Director of Accounting while earning her first master's degree in 1998.
