Dear Bobcat Club Members, The Spring Season is in full swing for Bobcat Athletics! Men's & women's basketball are deep into conference play and playing outstanding basketball. Our baseball and softball programs have begun workouts and they will open play this month. Tennis, men's and women's golf, and the indoor track season are all under way as well. Oh, and don't forget that year round Texas sport known as college football! The Bobcats will celebrate signing day with a special Bobcat Club party at 6:30 p.m. in the Sac N Pac room on Wednesday, February 6th. It is always a great time to here about the future of the program from the assistant coaches who worked so hard in signing these future Bobcats. Finally, don't forget about the Bobcat Bonanza on Friday, February 15th at the TDS Game Ranch. Call today and get your tickets to our largest athletic department fundraiser benefiting Texas State Student-Athlete scholarships. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the exciting changes we implemented last summer were new accounting procedures for giving to the Bobcat Club. A partnership was formed with Advancement Services, a division of University Advancement who handles and processes all donations to the University. I would like to take the time to highlight some special people that have made the inner workings of the Bobcat Club so much easier and efficient. Becky Prince: Becky is the VP for University Advancement and without her leadership, this partnership would not exist. Carla Bottorf: Carla is the Director of Advancement Services. She heads up an outstanding team and is always available to help with the many questions that arise from processing donations to tax implications. Jamie Shy: Jamie oversees our University's donor database. This database is all encompassing as it records donations, shows outstanding pledges, dollars collected, and donor contact information just to name a few. Jamie has been an outstanding through this transition process. Susan Quick: Susan is the brains behind the University's donor database. There are many reports requested in the world of fundraising and Susan is our go to computer programmer that can somehow take entries into the donor database and turn them into easy to read, functional reports. Sandy Gilligan: If there is a person on campus who knows the names of more Bobcat Club members than me it is Sandy. She handles all of the input and depositing duties as Bobcat Club memberships come in. These important people above do so much to help the Athletic Department and if you ever happen to meet one, please tell them thank you for all that they do as part of the Bobcat Club team. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As we do each month, below are current Department Fundraising numbers through February 4, 2008: Bobcat Club Dollars Received $213,578.91 Bobcat Club Dollars Pledged $9,260.09 Bobcat Club Gift-In-Kind $218,750.00 Total Bobcat Club $441,589.00 ---------------------------------------------------- Restricted Sport Fundraising $205,864.09 ---------------------------------------------------- Gifts toward Athletic Endowments $87,642.48 ------------------------------------------------------ Total Giving to date for Bobcat Athletics: $735,095.57 (Athletic Year 07-08) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next month you will learn of a special family that recently endowed a scholarship to the Texas State Athletics in the amount of $40,000.
