Sept. 29, 2004 Wow, we haven't even been up 24 hours as I write this, and the response has been terrific from our fans, alumni, and campus community. I have picked a handful of questions to answer initially. Thanks so much for everyone's positive feedback - Go Bobcats! Larry
Just wanted to congratulate you on a great looking website. You have really outdone yourselves. Keep up the great work!! Go BOBCATS!!!! Thanks for the kind note, Ryan. We have had tremendous response from the site in the less than 24 hours we have been live. We look forward to continuing to make the site more fan-friendly and interactive in the coming weeks with our on-line store, Gametracker, and Listen Live components. Keep checking back, as we are still a work in progress with the site.
As an alumni of Southwest Texas State, I cannot tell you how proud I am of the new website your program has put together for the athletic department. The website is a top-notch site with all the bells and whistles that a major program needs. I hope this site is only a sign of things to come with my beloved alma mater. The only question I have is if the App. St. football game will be broadcast on the website this Saturday. Great job putting this together, this is long overdue. First, Vincent, thank you for taking the time to visit the site. Your endorsement is held in sincere high regard, and I too believe that this site is part of our continued pattern to improve Bobcat Athletics. The Appalachian State will be broadcast on our new site with the College Sports Pass. Gametracker will be available for each of our home events and when we play schools who are also connected with College Sports Online.
Larry, A great question I will use the family analogy to initiate this answer. If you have a family of four, chances are you do not need a five or six bedroom house. Right now, we are a family of four in a three bedroom house. We live comfortably, but have not prospered in our current setting in terms of the most important barometer for distinguishing I-A and I-AA - football. I do not make a habit of dealing with excuses, but with facts. The facts are that we have had limited success (three winning seasons in 22 years is limited) on the football field. Do I think the climate for our football program is progressively changing? Absolutely. Are we where we want to be yet in terms of success? Absolutely not. A great start to the interest from our fan base was the Baylor game. We took 2,500 fans, had a great pre-game event, and played a Big 12 school within seven points. As Coach Bailiff said, there are no moral victories, but there are signs of encouragement. The bottom line is we have a tremendous opportunity in front of us. I hope to become a consistent powerhouse in the Southland Conference in the coming years on the gridiron and continue our success in other sports. That needs to be our immediate goal before we do something we could regret. I believe we have begun to establish the resources for that to happen. Thanks again for your interest.
