Mr. Teis, When can serious Bobcat fans purchase authentic baseball, football, and basketball jerseys? I know I'd buy all three in a heartbeat for well over what they'd cost to produce. – Nathan in Buda Nathan, we are currently working with several manufacturers to produce authentic baseball and football jerseys for our fans. Majestic Athletic, official uniform supplier of Major League Baseball, has agreed to produce our baseball jerseys. We are also working with Athletic Tech to produce both home and way football jerseys for our fans. Athletic Tech will also sell personalized jerseys for our fans, complete with names on the back. You can check out both companies’ websites – www.majesticathletic.com and www.athlete-tech.com. Both the football and baseball jerseys should be available by this summer. We are only waiting on samples to be completed so we can approve the product. We also hope in the coming weeks to find a manufacturer to produce an authentic basketball jersey for our fans as well. We are in the process of upgrading our on-line store and will have much more available directly to our fans through our website in the future. As far as national companies such as Lids, their decision to carry our products is directly related to the interest and support of fans like yourself. The more our fans demand stores to carry Texas State gear, the more Bobcat merchandise we will see. The minimums to buy these products are usually very high and companies are not always eager to produce for schools they believe might not sell well. Our fans’ purchasing power can influence the buys and production of these companies, let your voice be heard. We work directly with Collegiate Licensing Company to make sure our products are available for purchase by all major retailers; almost all major retailers are already licensed through CLC and have the capability to buy and stock our products. The current replica jerseys that we produce through OT Sports are quality jerseys that have sold consistently well since being introduced. We wish we could offer jerseys from our team manufacturers but currently there is no interest in producing additional product for retail sales. We have been trying to offer our fans as many merchandise options as possible and having the replica jersey for our fans was a step in the right direction for our merchandising efforts. Before replica jerseys were produced, there were no jerseys available at all except game-worn jerseys. By the way, you should never be ashamed to send your kid anywhere in Bobcat gear! Thanks for the question.
First off, as much as I hated to see Bailiff go, I feel as if it was a good move keeping Coach Wright. Bailiff, in the short time that he was here, was able to clean up our football program that was left a mess before he arrived, but he had to have a lot of help, and it seems like Coach Wright was a big aid in restoring our program. I have much confidence that he can keep our visions on being a top-tiered football university in the state going.
My question is ... Now that Coach Wright is our new head coach, are there any plans on being more active in the New Braunfels area? I went to a couple of games while he was a coach here, and he seemed to have a good community backing. Is there a plan to focus on San Marcos just as much, but reach out to the surrounding communities? – Jason in New Braunfels Jason, thanks for your comments. We have done a number of events in the surrounding communities and have reached out to the Chamber of Commerce in New Braunfels as well as other area Chambers. Last fall, we did a “meet and greet” with our basketball coaching staffs at the Greune Onion Grill to tip off our basketball season. Our student-athletes are also working with local schools to provide tutoring, mentoring and reading days at the elementary school level. We are always looking for great opportunities to get out and meet our fans and supporters. If you have any suggestions, please contact Bryan Miller at (512) 245-2114.
When will a 2007 Texas State Football schedule be posted? – Bill The 2007 football schedule will be announced in the next few weeks. We are finalizing the renewal process for our online ticketing system and want to have everything in place so our season ticket holders can order tickets once the schedule is released. Look for the announcement in mid-March and thanks for supporting the Bobcats.
I think the athletics’ website should have a link where people can donate directly to the athletics department. A link like this is located on the Texas State home page and all proceeds benefit the university. Having a link on the athletics’ website where people can donate to the athletics department will help raise funds for facilities, equipment, coaches’ pay raises, etc. – Joseph Joseph, thank you for the suggestion. We have begun the process of creating a secure link so donations can be made using a credit card on our website. In the meantime, donations can be made by sending a check or calling the Bobcat Athletic Foundation Office at (512) 245-2210.
What are the plans for the new baseball and softball complex and when will it be done? And, what is being done to get this job going? – Will in San Marcos The designs for the new baseball/softball complex are expected to be finalized in late March. The architects are working to incorporate all of the design elements that we have requested. Once the designs are released by the architects, they will be posted on our website. As you can imagine, this will be a multi-million dollar endeavor and it will take some time to raise the necessary funds to complete the job. We are hard at work identifying major gift donors to get the job started. If you or anyone else is interested in making a donation of any size toward the construction of the baseball/softball complex, contact Jim Wooldridge at (512) 245-7890.
