Bobcat Country - Get Loud, Be Proud!

We are very excited about the start of the fall semester. We just celebrated the August, 2007 Graduation with our Bobcat Club Ring Ceremony. Twelve student-athletes representing eight sports were presented their graduation rings. Our student-athletes finished the 2006-07 academic year with the highest GPAs in recorded history and we had a total of 56 graduates last year.

Bobcat Club memberships are on the rise and numbers are up from last year! Many thanks to all that have joined our scholarship efforts. If you still have not joined, go to the Bobcat Club site through our athletics webpage or call the office at 245-2114.

Fans have a lot to look forward to this season, especially in September. The Bobcats home opener against Cal-Poly doesn’t just kick off the football season; it also kicks off the tailgating season. In 2007 fans will be welcomed back to Bobcat Stadium by the American Tailgaters Association and Student Association for Campus Activities (SACA) who has a whole season’s worth of live music, games, food and prizes in store for fans in the East Parking Lot. Fans can also look forward to the H-E-B Tailgater of the Game contest all season again this year. This season marks the 25th Anniversary of the Bobcats back-to-back NCAA Division II National Football Championships. To honor those championship teams, Texas State is welcoming back the members of the 1981 and 1982 Bobcat Football teams on September 8th as the Bobcats take on former Lone Star Conference opponent Abilene Christian to be recognized for their accomplishments.

We are also looking forward to the start of our Bobcat Volleyball and Soccer seasons. The brand new I-35 Maroon and Gold rivalry presented by IBC will kick-off on September 20th at the Volleyball match against rival UTSA. As their special guests, Bobcat Volleyball invites all area Club Volleyball and Junior High Volleyball teams to join them! Club and Junior High teams can purchase group tickets at a discounted rate by calling the ticket office at (512) 245-2114. Bobcat soccer is already in full swing, but soccer fans are in for extra fun in September. This season Bobcat Soccer is introducing Sunday Funday at Bobcat Field. Fans will receive half price tickets and concessions each time the Bobcats play at home on a Sunday. On September 23rd Bobcat Fans are in for the ultimate Soccer Fan Fun Fest. Texas State welcomes all future Bobcats Sunday, September 23rd at 11 a.m. to enjoy games, bounce houses, face painting, food and prizes at Bobcat Field and stick around after the game for an autograph session with the team!
