Kemuel Morales Leads Texas State Track and Field Team With First and Third-Place Finishes At Texas Relays

Austin, Texas- - Kemuel Morales won one section and finished third in another at the Texas Relays to mark the fourth straight outdoor meet in which he posted a win in the men's shot put. Morales registered a third-place finish in the A Section of the shot put when he posted a mark of 17.70 meters (58-01.00) after he won the B section with a mark of 17.38 meters (57-00.25). Valerie Hancock had a fourth-place finish in the women's high jump after clearing the opening height of 1.70 meters (5-7) on her third attempt. Rebekah Vickers tied for sixth place in the B section of the women's pole vault after she cleared an opening height of 3.70 meters (12-1.50) on her first attempt. The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Gatis Spunde, Adam Higginbotham, Dino Buchanan and Erroll Harris registered a ninth-place finish with a time of 3:12.51 in the finals. They qualified for the finals with the eighth-fastest time of 3:13.46 in the preliminary rounds. Katie Haney also qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships when she finished sixth in the B Section of the women's discus with a throw of 49.41 meters (158-10). Her throw came on her first attempt in the competition.
