SAN MARCOS - The Texas State Department of Athletics announced the establishment of the Diamond Club, an organization created to generate fan and monetary support for the Bobcat baseball program. The 2007 Bobcat finished with a 37-23 season and a national-ranking and hope this program will increase a community-wide backing for the team.

"We are intent on building a community of support for what we believe is an outstanding program," said Head Coach Ty Harrington. "We are striving to make this a significant program in the Southland Conference that will excel into a national power and the emergence of the Diamond Club is another brick in the building process."

The funds generated by the Diamond Club will supplement the current baseball budget, assist with specialty projects and facility improvements, as well as provide an organized effort within the fan base to support the baseball program at Texas State.

The Diamond Club is open to alumni, friends, family and fans of the Texas State Bobcat baseball team and offers five levels of membership that offer exclusive privileges with the program.

The Bobcats will have 27 home games this season, including dates with New Mexico, Northern Illinois, Rice, TCU, Houston, Baylor and SLC opponents.

For more information, contact Assistant Head Coach Howard Bushong (512-245-8395) or San Marcos resident Gordon McCullough (512-392-9917, gmac@centurytel.net) who will be serving as Diamond Club president during its inaugural year.
