SAN MARCOS - A Tuesday night meeting at Disch-Falk Field will cap the third and final scheduled meeting between the Texas State Bobcats and the Texas Longhorns this season. The `Cats have been unsuccessful in the previous two match-ups, but look to capitalize on a struggling Horn team. First pitch is slated for 6:05 p.m. and will be broadcasted on 89.9 KTSW FM.

Texas has had a tough bout with the Southland Conference in its last two meetings, falling to both Texas-Arlington and Texas-San Antonio on its home field. The Mavericks took a 4-3 victory over the Horns after scoring and early three runs and spoiling a late inning rally. UTSA used its bats to power a 7-1 defeat last Wednesday and the `Cats look to do the same.

The `Cats broke free Sunday afternoon and avoided a weekend sweep by Lamar with an 8-1 victory. Zach Tritz completed his second full game of the season, limiting the Cardinals to just eight hits as he notched his eighth win of the season.

Offensively, Texas State shows a .327 season batting average, but in the pair of games against Texas, the team drops to .217 at the plate. The Bobcats have managed just 15 hits against the Horns, with six multi-base hits and eight RBI. Jerry Cervantes and Thomas Field lead the pack with three hits each. Field is 3-for-8 with a double and one RBI. In all games, Paul Goldschmidt posts a .371 batting average to head the team. The sophomore has a team-best 15 doubles and home runs each and has batting in 59 runs to date.

Texas sports a .327 team batting average, shifting mildly to .319 against Texas State. Russ Moldenhauer and Michael Torres lead the charge with a .348 and .341 bat, respectively.

On the mound, State will pit Kane Holbrooks against UT's Kenn Kasparek. Holbrooks is 2-4 with an 8.45 ERA. The right-hander's last stint against Texas went three innings, allowing just seven hits and four runs to cross. Kasparek holds an overall ERA of 5.23. He has tossed 41.1 total innings and opponents hit .255 against the right-hander.

Texas State is 0-2 against UT this season and 9-27 in the all-time series. Live stats will be available through the home teams web-site at www.TexasSports.com
