Omar Lowery begins his second season on the Texas Statecoaching staff after a two-season stint as a graduate assistant coach at Easter New Mexico University.

In his first season on the Texas State staff, Lowery helped the Bobcats triple their win total from the previous season. He was also part of a staff which hauled in an early signing class which included four of the top 40 prep players in the state of Texas and one of the most prolific scorers in junior college basketball history.

As a member of the Eastern New Mexico staff, Lowery had an extensive list of responsibilities including on-court coaching, recruiting, scouting opponents and game preparation. He also served as a clinician and coordinated officials for ENMU's summer basketball camps.

In addition to coaching, Lowery taught within the physical education department at Eastern New Mexico.

Prior to coaching at Eastern New Mexico, Lowery was involved in high school and AAU basketball in Wisconsin.

He was an assistant coach at Nathan Hale High School for the 2001-02 season before moving on to coach under David Cook at Marquette High School during the 2002-03 season. Lowery spent the 2003-04 season with the Stay in the Game AAU organization which is based out of Milwaukee, Wis.

Lowery was a two-year team captain at Concordia University in Mequon, Wis., helping the program earn the school's first men's NCAA Tournament berth. He went on to be a First-Team All-Lakeshore Conference selection at Concordia.

Lowery is quite familiar with this region's junior colleges. He played two seasons at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. He went on to be a First-Team All-Lakeshore Conference selection at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisc.

After graduating from Concordia, he was a physical education teacher and assistant coach in the Milwaukee Public Schools system.

Lowery earned a degree in physical education from Concordia in 2002, He also earned a master's degree in physical education (Sports Administration) from Eastern New Mexico University in 2006.
