Saw significant playing time as a red-shirt freshman in 2006 ... participated in some non-contact drills but held out of most activities during spring practices this year ... very good blocker who has the size a coaching staff looks for in a tight end.
2006: As a red-shirt freshman, had one pass reception during the season ... caught a 23-yard pass in the Bobcats' game against Northern Colorado ... as a blocker, helped Texas State average 351.64 yards of offense per game, second in the Southland Conference ... total offense average was also 38th among FCS programs ... `Cats averaged 201 yards passing and 150 yards passing.
Calallen High School: Played for a Calallen squad which advanced to a state-playoff record 21 consecutive seasons during senior season ... had 80 tackles, forced four fumbles, recovered two and had an interception ... was named to the All-Bay Class 4A team as a defensive lineman ... named All-District 30-4A as both a defensive lineman and a tight end ... also named all-metro ... played on state semifinalist team junior season (13-1) and high school squad advanced to the state quarterfinals senior year (9-4) ... high school coach was Phil Danaher ... also played soccer.
