Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Coach Brad Wright

Opening Statement:
"I'm looking at the final score of 45-27 and that's all that really matters. We didn't show up to play tonight. We came out half-cocked and you can't do that. This is my fault this time, because obviously I didn't push the right buttons. But it won't be my fault again."

On problems in the first half:
"Point you're fingers wherever you want to point them. We were in slow motion all over the field. On defense, we were standing around waiting for someone else to make the play. It was the classic look of a team that [was happy with] beating Cal Poly last week."

On Abilene Christian:
"They ran the ball a lot better than had shown on film. They ran the ball down our throats and made us like it. We have to do something to fix that, especially with as good as our defensive front is supposed to be."

"They came off a bad showing last week and looked like team wanting to prove something. They are going to be a force in the Lone Star Conference. Tonight, they looked like they could be a force in the Southland Conference to me."

On the second half play:
"I thought we should some signs of life on offense, but defensively I don't think we ever showed up. You can't put yourself down 28 points and expect to come back and win."

On preparation for next week:
"We going to keep emphasizing the same things we've been emphasizing. We're going to come out and work hard each day, and show up and work hard on Saturdays. It didn't look like it this week, but that's what we're trying to do."

"I told the guys big picture this is a football game we can learn a lot from. That's what life is all about, making mistakes and learning from them. Hopefully, we don't ever show up in the same mental state we did tonight."

Quarterback Bradley George

On play in the second half:
"I would like to say we went out and executed a little bit better, but we had four turnovers tonight and I'm not going to say we did anything very well. You can't win with that many turnovers. It was a pretty frustrating night all night."

Linebacker Travis Houston

On defense's performance:
"I don't think the defense came to play. We showed that we can do it, but never put it together in a string. Then when you are coming back from 28-0, you can't let the other offense score any more. We didn't do our job, that's all it is."
