2008 Football Schedule

SAN MARCOS - Trips to SMU and Northern Colorado along with home dates against Southern Utah and Texas Southern highlight the nonconference portion of the 2008 Texas State football schedule released Friday afternoon.

The Bobcats' home schedule begins August 30 against Angelo State and also includes Northwestern State coming to San Marcos for the first time since 2005 and the first-ever visit by Central Arkansas.

After hosting Angelo State in the season opener, Texas State heads to Dallas to face SMU in their first season under head coach June Jones, who last year guided Hawaii to an undefeated regular season and Sugar Bowl berth for the first time in school history.

The non-conference schedule concludes with a trio of games against 2006 opponents, beginning with a home game against Texas Southern on September 13. The Bobcats will then look to avenge a 14-13 loss to Northern Colorado by traveling to Greeley, Colo., before concluding the non-conference slate of games Sept. 27 in San Marcos against Southern Utah.

After the bye week, Southland Conference play begins on October 11 with a trip to face two-time defending champion McNeese State, who finished 11th in the final poll released by the Sports Network.

Central Arkansas follows the next week with their first visit to San Marcos since joining the league. After a trip to Stephen F. Austin, the Bobcats return home against Northwestern State on November 1.

Texas State then travels to Southeastern Louisiana for the first time in three years before concluding the home schedule on November 15 with the Battle for the Paddle against Nicholls State. The regular season schedule ends the next week at Sam Houston State.

Season and single-game ticket information will be available in March.
