THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN BOBCAT FOOTBALL.

Spring, 2008 walk-on tryouts are closed. If interested in walking on during the Fall, 2008 semester, stop by the football office to complete the necessary paper work.

Roster spots are awarded to deserving individuals who are in compliance with Texas State and NCAA rules and eligibility and have passed the open walk-on tryout.

Interested individuals must stop by the Football Office in the End Zone Complex at Bobcat Stadium and fill out the walk-on information sheet.

A mandatory meeting will be scheduled for those who completed all the paperwork prior to the tryout to review all walk-on and team policies. After the mandatory meeting, all interested student-athletes who attended the meeting will be processed by the Texas State Compliance Office and Academic staffs to ensure:

  • All NCAA and Texas State Athletic Dept. compliance.
  • Verify current academic standing (per Texas State and NCAA eligibility rules)

    In order to participate in the walk-on tryouts, YOU MUST SATISFY ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

    If you are enrolling from high school, you:

  • Must be registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
  • Must be accepted and enrolled in at least 12 hours at Texas State.
  • Must show proof of acceptable insurance.
  • Must show proof of medical physical, signed by a licensed physician and completed on the Texas State University form. Texas State Physical Form

    If you are a transfer or currently enrolled at Texas State, you: Must be in compliance of NCAA and Texas State rules (compliance and academics)

  • Must be registered with NCAA Clearinghouse.
  • Must be accepted and enrolled in at least 12 hours at Texas State.
  • Must show proof of acceptable insurance.
  • Must show proof of medical physical, signed by a licensed physician and completed on the Texas State University form. Texas State Physical Form
  • Must meet NCAA and Texas State eligibility requirements as set in walk-on policy

    The tryout will consist of speed and agility drills, as well as position specific skill evaluations with Texas State position coaches. The coaching staff will post the results of the tryout the next day.

    IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO SET UP YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE TO START AND END BETWEEN 11:00 AM AND 4:00 PM. TEXAS STATE WILL PRACTICE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 8:00 AM TILL 10:30 AM.
