ALOHA, Bobcat Fans!
I just got into Hawaii about two hours ago (it is about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday Hawaii time). What a long day, but it is incredible here. I can't believe I was in Denver this morning and now am staying on the beach and going to a luau tonight - talk about crazy!
After attending the Broncos win over the Patriots in Denver last night, I was pretty pumped up both from the game and the anticipation of leaving today. Basically, my 6 a.m. wakeup call to head to the Denver airport came after no sleep. Luckily, I got a chance to catch some sleep on the plane and also do some reading.
We stopped in San Francisco, and there is where I met up with Fred (Evans, former Bobcat DL). He has been working out in Houston in hopes of getting invited to the combine in Indianapolis. It was good to see him and catch up. Overall, there were probably six or seven guys on our flight to Honolulu that are playing in the game.
Upon landing in Hawaii, we were transported to the Hyatt Regency Resort - Waikiki. As I said, very beautiful. When I first arrived at the hotel (a little after 9 p.m. Texas time), I immediately had some informal visits with a couple of the NFL scouts in the lobby.
We got our check-in packets with our schedules and itinerary for the week, but I have not looked very close at it yet. I will keep everyone updated on my schedule as the week progresses. I do know tomorrow that we have our 8 a.m. wakeup call that I have gotten used to hearing. We immediately begin interviews, testing, and physicals with NFL scouts. There is also a team meeting tomorrow.
As far as tonight goes, I have a cousin whose husband is stationed over here in the military, so I am going to spend some time with them today and throughout the week. After an introductory luau for the teams on the beach in front of our hotel, Fred and I are going to have dinner with some of our teammates from the West squad.
So, I will update everyone again at some point tomorrow. After having been here only a few hours, I can tell it is really going to be a special week.
Go 'Cats!
