Patrick Henry enters his first season on the Texas State women's basketball staff, coming to San Marcos from Mercer Univeristy in Macon, Ga.

At Mercer, Henry served as an assistant coach for three seasons, helping the Bears to one Atlantic Sun Conference title and a turnaround that still stands as an NCAA record.

The season before Henry landed in Macon, Mercer went 6-23, and in Henry's first year with the Bears, they compiled a 23-6 mark.

Prior to joining the staff at Mercer, Henry spent one season as an administrative assistant on the men's basketball staff at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. In his lone season with GSU, the Eagles took home a Southern Conference Championship.

In the 2000-01 season, Henry was on staff at Frank Phillips Junior College in Borger, Texas. Prior to his stint at Frank Phillips, Henry was an assistant men's basketball coach at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla.

In one season at Florida Southern, Henry was part of a coaching staff that brought home a Sunshine State Conference title, made an Elite Eight appearance and finished the season with a record of 32-2 and a No.-1 ranking at the end of the season.

Henry's coaching resume also includes one year at Northside High School in his home town of Warner Robins, Ga., as the school's associate coach.

Prior to his coaching days, Henry was a two-year letter winner at Ohio University, where he also received a pair of Ohio Scholar-Athlete Citations in 1996 and 1997.

The Warner Robins native has worked under four national coaches of the year, including Texas State's Suzanne Fox.

Henry finished his bachelor's degree at Ohio in 1998 and completed his graduate studies with a master's degree in education at Mercer in 2005.
