Joe Reints was hired in August 2003, and came to Texas State from Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota, and has three years of collegiate coaching experience. In his second season with the Bobcats Coach Reints, main duties will consist of working with post players, facility scheduling, organizing summer camps and Jr. Bobcat clinics, game day operations, and service opportunities for the team in the community.
"We are excited to have a coach of Joe's caliber in our program," Fox said. "Coach Reints comes to Texas State with a wealth of knowledge about developing inside players."
At Mount Marty, Reints was the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach and Golf Head Coach for the 2002-03 season. His duties consisted of coaching perimeter players, scouting opponents, recruiting, and helping with the game plan.
"The year he spent working with coaching legend Don Meyer will definitely benefit our inside players and our entire program."
Prior to his year at Mount Marty, Reints held a men's volunteer assistant coaching position at Northern State University from 2001 to 2002 where he was responsible for scouting opponents, recruiting and evaluating talent, managing basketball camps, and developing post players. In his time at Northern State, Reints was a pupil of the legendary Coach Meyer.
"Joe is an excellent teacher of the game in that he really knows how to break everything down for the players to learn," said Coach Meyer. "He is a hard worker, great talent evaluator, and he knows what it takes to compete in the NCAA's."
Reints spent one year at Northern State as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the women's basketball team in 2000 working with post players. He was an assistant junior high coach at the Deubrook Area School for two seasons.
Reints is a 2000 graduate of South Dakota State University where he majored in History. While coaching at Northern State, he began work on a Masters in Health, Physical Education and Recreation degree there. He attended and graduated from Willow Lake High School before going to college.
