Texas State head women's basketball coach Suzanne Fox completed her coaching staff for the 2007-08 season with the hiring of former Indiana University of Pennsylvania assistant Holly Sartor as an assistant coach.
A Kilgore native, Sartor comes to Texas State after one season at IUP, helping to guide the Crimson Hawks to a 2007 PSAC conference championship and a trip to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen.
While at the lead assistant at IUP, Sartor served as both recruiting coordinator and director of the Susan G. Komen "Shoot for the Cure" Classic, an annual event that raises money for breast cancer research and awareness.
In announcing Sartor's hiring Fox said, "I'm so pleased to have Holly join our staff. She has a wealth of ties to both the junior college and high school ranks in Texas and has a personality that will blend in well with our staff and with our team. She's bright, energetic and has a chance to be a real standout in our profession."
Prior to her stint at IUP, Sartor spent two seasons at Southland Conference rival, Sam Houston State as a graduate assistant while completing her master's degree in health and kinesiology.
Before coaching at Sam Houston State, Sartor spent two seasons coaching in the junior college ranks in Texas at Grayson County College for a year and Kilgore College for one season with each team reaching their regional tournament.
As a player at Letourneau University, Sartor was twice named academic all-conference and helped her team reach the regional tournament three times. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in teacher education.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to come to Texas State University," said Sartor. "I was immediately drawn to a program and a head coach that I have had great respect for while previously being in the Southland Conference. I'm appreciative of the opportunity that Cindy Martin gave me at IUP and I know that I will be able to take many of the experiences and apply them here at Texas State. I'm excited about joining the Texas State family and a program that has the opportunity to pursue and compete for championships."
