Texas State Women's Golf Team Stands In Second Place Heading Into The Final Round Of The Gainesville Shootout III

Gainesville, Texas - - The Texas State women's golf team heads into the final round of the Gainesville Shootout III in second place after the Bobcats combined for a team score of 313 on the Par 70, 5,907-yard University of Florida's Mark Bostick Golf Course Friday afternoon.

Trine Mortensen enters the final round in 10th place after firing a 7-over-par 77 in the second round. Mortensen shot a 5-over-par 75 in the first round and enters the final round with a 36-hole score of 152, which equals her lowest score through two rounds this season.

Caitlin Bliss also fired a 77 in the second round and moved into a tie for 11th place after shooting a 6-over-par score of 76 in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday. Bliss has a two-round score of 153, and that also equals her lowest 36-hole score this season as well.

Linn Gustafsson is tied for 16th place with a two-day total score of 154 after she fired an 11-over-par score of 81 in the second round. Gustafsson began the tournament with her best round in the spring with a three-over-par 73.

Sehee Kim is tied for 20th-place with a two-round total of 155 after she fired a score of 78 in the second round and began the tournament with a 77.

Texas State's fifth player, Adin Stromgren, enters the final round with a two-round score of 161.

Michigan enters Saturday's final round leading the team standings by three shots over Texas State with a team score of 611. The Wolverines are led by Lindsay Davis, who is in fifth place as an individual with a two-round score of 149 after she fired a 9-over-par 79 in the second round. Davis began the tournament shooting an even par 70 in the opening round.

The Bobcats are one shot of Illinois, who finished the second round with a team score of 615, and three shots ahead of Illinois State, which enters the final round of 617.

 

 

The individual leader at the tournament is Alex Rankin, who shot a two-under-par 68 in the second round and enters the final round with an even-par score of 140.

Raquel Hopton is in second place with a two-round score of 145 after she fired an even-par 70 in the second round. Florida's Nicole Schachner is in third place after shooting a two-round score of 147 on her home course. Illinois State's Marisa Milligan is in fourth place with a score of 148.
