Texas State Stands In Third Place After The First Two Rounds At the Arkansas-Little Rock Women's Golf Classic

Hot Springs, Ark.- - The Texas State women's golf team is in third place following the first two rounds of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Golf Classic on Monday. The Bobcats combined to shoot a team score of 607 after Linn Gustafsson, Sehee Kim and Trine Mortensen finished the first day among the top 13 players at the tournament on the par-72, 5,971-yard course at the Diamonte Country Club. Gustafsson is in fifth place after the first two rounds after she shot a 4-over par 144 through the first 36 holes of the tournament. Gustafsson posted scores of 3-over-par 75 in the opening round and 1-over 73 in the second round of the tournament. Kim and Mortensen are tied with Daniela Vial of Arkansas-Little Rock for 13th place in the tournament after the trio ended the second round with a 7-over-par score of 151 after 36 holes. Kim opened the tournament with a 7-over par 79 in the opening round of the tournament, but came back to fire an even-par 72 in the second round. Mortensen posted Texas State's best score in the first round with an even-par 72, but came back to shoot a 7-over-par 79 in the second. Caitlin Bliss is tied for 38th place with a two-round score of 157, while Adin Stromgren ended the first day with a score of 162 through the first 36 holes. Christy Carter of Oral Roberts is the individual leader heading into the final round on Tuesday after she shot a 3-under-par 141 through the first 36 holes. Paula Hurtado of Florida International is in second place with a 2-under par score of 142, while Kelly Fuchik of Tulsa is in third place at 146. Rebecca Sorensen of Central Arkansas is in fourth place with a 3-over par score of 147, one shot ahead of Gustafsson.
Tulsa and Florida International are tied for the team lead through the first two rounds after they shot team scores of 605. Texas State is two shots back and in third place, while the host school Arkansas-Little Rock (609) and Missouri State (614) round out the top five teams in the tournament. |
