Reta Derouin is in her third season as a coach at Texas State, joining the Bobcat staff immediately after graduating from Texas State in 2002.
Derouin played two years with the Bobcats under Coach Conner, and was honored as the Southland Conference Player of the Year award in 2001, a year after being named Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year.
Statistically, Derouin put up very big numbers for her brief two-year career at Texas State, as she has the fifth most career goals (13) and total points (31) in Bobcat history. Her 13 goals came on only 80 career shots.
Now working in her first collegiate coaching position, Derouin has previously gained experience as a coach at the youth and club levels.
During her final semester in school, Derouin served as the head coach within the San Marcos Soccer Association, directing her team in weekend games and tournaments.
Prior to working with the SMSA, she served as a personal soccer trainer with the Eagles Soccer Association in Round Rock, Texas. As a personal trainer, her responsibilities included teaching basic to advanced soccer skills to girls ages 8-13.
Derouin earned her bachelor of science degree in exercise and sports science at Texas State in May 2002. During her playing days at Texas State, Derouin was a member of the Bobcat soccer team that claimed the 2001 Southland Conference regular season and tournament championships, becoming the first team from the Southland Conference to advance to the NCAA College Cup.
As a senior, Derouin was the Southland Conference's Player of the Year, as well as a First-Team All-Conference selection and the SLC Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Derouin was also a member of the 2001 Southland Conference Academic All-Conference team.
Having transferred from the University of Texas at El Paso as a junior, Derouin was, in addition to being named the Southland Conference's Newcomer of the Year in 2000, was also a member of the Southland Conference All-Tournament Team.
