SAN MARCOS - Texas State soccer head coach Kat Conner announced the addition of six new faces to the 2008 Bobcat roster. "I am very excited about this class, these six signees bring hard work, determination and passion to the game of soccer," said Conner. The half dozen will join Texas State from various metro areas around the state, with one lone competitor from Alabama.

Erica Michaud
Erica Michaud will be joining the team following a career at Belton High School. The forward has scored 87 career goals to date broke a BHS career assist record of 42. Michaud led the team to the regional playoffs last years and anticipates a repeat season that could translate to a state championship.

"Erica is an offensive spark plug," said Conner "I know her skills and determination to put the ball in the back of the net will help the scoring power we already have, but Erica exudes confidences that will help our young offensive unit." Michaud is a forward from Belton, Texas and in addition to competing for her high school squad play for the Austin Lonestar club team.

Kendell Webber
Kendell Webber signed with Texas State from Coppell, Texas. The center midfielder competes for the CHS Cowboys, where she played a part in their District 7-5A championship honor. Webber was named to the All-District team in both her sophomore and junior seasons.

"Kendell is the type of player that makes things happen, especially when the team needs it most. She will improve the offensive possession in the midfield for our team next year," said Conner.

In addition to her prep-team accolades, Webber competed in the 2004 State Cup Championship while membering the FC Dallas club team. The team advanced to the 2005 Regional Quarterfinals.

Kelsey Bernard
Kelsey Bernard will join club teammate Webber on Bobcat Field next season. "Kelsey and Kendell have been playing together for a couple of years so they know each other very well. The duo will help improve the possession and defense in the midfield."

The FC Dallas center midfielder currently plays for 2007 State Champion soccer team The Colony Cougars. Bernard has earned First-Team All-District honors through her current career at TCHS and currently serves as the 2008 squads team captain.

"Kelsey is a defensive midfielder who is very smart and athletic. She will help us slow the opponents counterattack against the team," said Conner.

Deborah Ross
Conner will add depth at the goalkeeping position with Deborah Ross. The Alabama native joins the team after competing for Briarwood Christian High School and the Mountain Brook Angels club team. While competing for BCHS, Ross helped the team to back-to-back state championships in 2006 and 2007. Ross has played for the Angels since 2002, where she saw a 2006 state championship and advanced to the Region III Quarterfinals in 2004-2007.

"Deborah is very athletic and is a true competitor. She simply cannot get enough soccer and she's always working to improve her skills at goalkeeper," said Conner. "She brings a winner's mentality and confidence that radiates through to her team...it brings composure to the defensive unit as a whole."

Maddie Piranio
Maddie Piranio will head to San Marcos after competing at Klein High School and for Texas Rush. "Maddie is one of the hardest workers I have seen in a while," said Conner. "She is one of those players that will put the team on her back and carry them to victory by true grit and sheer determination."

Katie Herrick
Katie Herrick rounds out the six signing with Texas State for the new season. Herrick saw time at the midfield position for Flower Mound High School.

"Katie is that player that exemplifies what Bobcat soccer's core values. We are hard workers, compassionate and positive people that play for the team and always look to lead, without putting out any excuses," said Conner. Aside from competing for the Jaguars, Herrick competes for the Aces soccer club in the Dallas metroplex.
