SAN MARCOS - While Texas State ended its 2007 season in November after making the NCAA Tournament, the Bobcats are already busy preparing for the 2008 season with several activities on the calendar.

The team's 10 returners started their eight-hour per week workouts on January 21. Strength and conditioning coach Leo Seitz has the `Cats intensely involved in a demanding program consisting of agility and weight training along with conditioning for six hours while the volleyball coaching staff has two hours per week of volleyball work. The volleyball workouts have been also been broken up into four 30 minutes segments by position with the focus on improving individual fundamentals and learning new techniques.

On March 5 the team ups its training to 20 hours per week with Texas State's non-traditional season. The Bobcats will play in four tournaments beginning with one hosted by the `Cats on March 29 and including an April 5 date at SMU and the Tornadoes Intercollegiate Tournament in Houston on April 12.

Volleyball enthusiasts wanting to learn some of the skills the Texas State volleyball team learns can also enroll in one of Karen Chisum's volleyball camps. Dates for the camps are July 6-9 or July 10-13 while a team camp will be held July 16-18. Contact Sean Huiet for more information at 512-245-3583 or via email at sh48@txstate.edu.
