Another up and down week for Bobcat Volleyball...

We bounced back from UTA and beat Sam Houston on Wednesday night in three games. We played very well as a team and ended with a .322 hitting percentage! It was definitely an exciting night!

Saturday was a different story. We came out fired up to play SFA who had won its last 56 conference games in a row. We were determined to break that streak and came out strong in game one. We won game one and then something fell apart in game two. We kept making unnecessary errors, which led to a quick loss. However, we came back out ready to play again in game three. We battled all the way to the end, but came up short 28-30. I know we weren't ready to give up in game four. We had a three point lead at the end of the game, but let them come back and tie it up several times. We fought so hard at the end of the game but it didn't fall our way. We ended up losing 33-35 in a heartbreaker. I keep replaying the last couple of points over and over in my head and it's still not getting any easier. All of us, especially the returners, wanted to win that game so bad and it's frustrating to get so close but still come up short.

Some good things came out of Saturday's game though. It was the Susan G. Komen "Dig for the Cure" game in which we raised money to help in the fight against breast cancer. We warmed up in pink t-shirts to show our support. Fans could donate any amount of money per dig for that game and we ended with 85 digs! It felt good to contribute to such an important cause.

I have no doubt that we'll be up and ready to play again this week as we start our stretch of road games. It's going to be strange to start traveling again this year. I don't think we've ever had so many home games in a row since I've been here. Hopefully when we come back around to play SFA for the second time, we will use Saturday's game as motivation for some revenge.

See you next week, Emily
