Our first week on the road was a success!!

After three good practices this week, we headed next door to UTSA on Thursday night. After a slow start, we won the first game in extra points and then really came out ready to play in the next two. It feels good to be able to bounce back after a tough loss this year, like SFA, and win the next game. Last year, one of the biggest things we struggled with was losing several consecutive matches after the first one.

Friday we got to sleep in a little bit before our 11am practice. Then we got on the bus and headed to Corpus Christi. It's amazing to not be missing Friday classes for travel this year! We ate our usual Olive Garden meal in Corpus and then headed to the hotel, which was right on the beach!

The next morning we woke up to a pretty big breakfast at the hotel and then got a two hour nap, I mean study hall :), afterwards. Some of the girls went out to the water and swam with a dolphin! (They had a lot of fun after they realized it wasn't a shark.)

Then we watched video on Corpus and went to Quizno's for our pregame meal. After setting a team "promise" in the locker room to keep Corpus Christi under 75 total points in the match, we came out very ready to play. The closest game was the first one at 30-21. Luckily that means we will still be alive after practice on Monday.

Anyway, this week was a lot of fun and definitely helped in maintaining a relatively high position in the conference. We don't play again until Friday at Lamar and then we'll play our first Louisiana team at McNeese on Saturday.

I'm off to study for yet another test tomorrow. It seems like they never quit popping up!

Until next week, Emily
