Dec. 11, 2007

The season and the semester are officially over now.

Since the last time I wrote, a lot has happened. We went to the first round of the NCAA tournament in Austin on November 30th. We had a great practice the day before and came out strong in the first game against Texas. We stayed with them point-for-point all the way to 21-21! It was crazy! Every other ball just seemed to fall our way and for a short time, it actually seemed like we could take a game, if not more, from Texas that night.

Every team makes errors and that's what we kept making them do. However, we made a few too many at the end of the game and Texas scored the next nine points in a row for the win. From there, we just didn't play the same. We couldn't get back in a rhythm to stay with Texas in either of the next two games.

Texas was a very good team, and even though they didn't make it into the Final Four, they had a great run this year (Ed. Note: The Longhorns lost to USC 3-0 in the Gainesville Regional Final).

Our goal for next year is to play much better in preseason so we can get a better RPI going into the seeding process. That way we hopefully won't have to play a top-five team again in the first round.

Overall, we had a great season, or a great end of the season I should say. We got fitted for our championship rings last week, and we're all so excited. It'll be a long five months while we wait for those to come in at the end of the spring.

Volleyball's not the only thing that's over. School is finally out! Woohoooo! Exams ended today for everybody, but my last one was Monday. Now, we all get to go home and get ready for Christmas with our families.

My Christmas break will be a little different this year as I am getting married in 11 days! Eek! I can't believe it's already here. The next two weeks will be jam-packed for my family. Chad (my fiancé) will be graduating on Friday from Texas State. Then my 21st birthday is on the 20th! All the while, we will be finishing up the last few plans for the wedding that's on the 22nd!

Chad and I will stay home for Christmas with our families and let the dust settle a bit before we head off to Mexico for our honeymoon the week of January 6th. I'm so excited!

It's been a great semester and a lot of fun to update everyone on what we went through each week. I hope the break is amazing for all of you. I know it will be for me!
